Most people automatically assume that the weather is hot in South America, but because of the higher altitude in the Andes, the temperature can feel quite cold, especially at night. We recommend the use of a duffel bag or backpack, whichever is easiest for you to carry. A good size daypack is also essential.
List of things you must bring:
1. What is the best time to go paragliding in the Sacred Valley?
The best time to go paragliding is during the dry season, which typically runs from May to September. The weather is clearer, and the flying conditions are more stable. However, flights are possible year-round, with the mornings usually offering the best conditions.
2. Do I need prior experience to paraglide?
No prior experience is required for tandem paragliding. You will be flying with an experienced pilot who will take care of the navigation and control of the flight, allowing you to enjoy the views and the experience.
3. How long will the paragliding flight last?
The flight typically lasts between 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the weather conditions. Thermal winds can sometimes extend the duration of the flight.
4. How high will we fly during the paragliding experience?
Flights usually take place at altitudes of around 2,800 to 3,500 meters (9,200 to 11,500 feet) above sea level. You’ll get breathtaking views of the Sacred Valley from this height, including mountain peaks and ancient Inca ruins.
5. What should I wear for paragliding?
It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activities, such as a light jacket, sturdy shoes, and long pants. Also, bring sunglasses to protect your eyes from the sun and the wind. All other gear, such as helmets and harnesses, will be provided by the paragliding operator.
6. Is paragliding in the Sacred Valley safe?
Yes, paragliding in the Sacred Valley is generally safe. Experienced and licensed pilots use high-quality equipment and follow strict safety protocols. Before the flight, you’ll receive a safety briefing, and the equipment will be checked thoroughly.
7. What happens if the weather is not good for flying?
Paragliding is highly dependent on weather conditions. If the weather is unfavorable—such as strong winds or rain—flights may be canceled or postponed for safety reasons. Your operator will monitor the conditions and inform you in advance if there’s a need to reschedule.
8. How physically demanding is paragliding?
Paragliding is not physically demanding, especially for beginners. You’ll only need to follow simple instructions during takeoff and landing, and your pilot will handle all the flying. The experience is mostly about relaxing and enjoying the views.
9. Can I take photos or videos during the flight?
Yes, you can take photos and videos during the flight. Many paragliding operators offer professional video and photo services, where a camera is mounted on the pilot’s helmet or attached to the equipment to capture your flight.
10. How do I book a paragliding experience over the Sacred Valley?
To book a paragliding experience, simply contact a reputable paragliding company that operates in the Sacred Valley. You can make a reservation online or through your hotel, and the operator will arrange all the details, including transportation, gear, and experienced pilots.

Really enjoyed the experience with friends, something to cherish for the rest of my life. If you go I highly recommend you ask for Fernando. He was our guide for the entire trip. Extremely knowledgeable and made the experience that much more memorable. He started the trip as a guide and by the end became a friend, the time you spend on the trek, you really want someone who fits with your group and I can't imagine a better person who could fit better in anyone's group. As well, the trek itself was difficult but very enjoyable, something to push yourself to your limits. Every day was extremely rewarding, not to mention the hot springs was well worth it. Fantastic and absolutely recommended. They offer a very interesting package both for the price and for the service. Our guide Fernando Illapa taught us a lot about Inca history and the Andean way of life. He and our cook were very attentive and cordial throughout the experience. Our food was amazing and the camping equipment in perfect condition. D r2024-01-27Verified an unforgettable experience It was a wonderful experience. From the beginning Wayra gave us all the information, always attentive and answering all our questions. During the trip we had Fernando Illapa as our guide. We must say that he is a great professional, thoroughly knowledgeable about the path and with a great sense of humor and a lot of patience, which made everything easier in the most demanding moments of the Inca trail. The accompanying team is very organized and I must say that the food exceeded our expectations. Dishes that could well be served in a restaurant and extremely abundant. We did the road with my husband and there were very difficult sections of great physical demand, but the impressive landscapes and discovering archaeological sites along the way make it worth it. We were also fortunate to have excellent travel companions. An unforgettable experience with the help of a professional team that paid attention to all the details.
