Most people automatically assume that the weather is hot in South America, but because of the higher altitude in the Andes, the temperature can feel quite cold, especially at night. We recommend the use of a duffel bag or backpack, whichever is easiest for you to carry. A good size daypack is also essential.

Where is Singrenacocha Lake located?
Singrenacocha Lake is located in the Cusco region, about 3.5 to 4 hours from the city of Cusco by car. It is known for its turquoise waters and breathtaking views of the Vilcanota mountain range.
How difficult is the hike?
The hike is considered moderate. It’s around 8–10 km round trip, mostly flat with some gradual ascents. The main challenge is the altitude (over 4,200 meters / 13,800 ft).
Do I need to be acclimatized?
Yes. We recommend spending at least 2–3 days in Cusco before the tour to avoid altitude sickness.

What is the best time of year to visit?
The dry season (April to October) is the best time, offering clear skies and stable weather. During the rainy season (November to March), the trail can be muddy, and views may be limited.
Is Singrenacocha Lake less crowded than Humantay?
Yes. Singrenacocha is still a hidden gem compared to Humantay Lake. You’ll find fewer tourists and a more peaceful experience.
Can children or older travelers do the tour?
Yes, but it depends on their physical condition and tolerance to altitude. We recommend the tour for children over 8 years old and adults in good health.
Is horseback rental available?
No, unlike Humantay Lake or Rainbow Mountain, horseback rentals are generally not available at Singrenacocha. The hike is done on foot.
What is the tour schedule?
Is the lake safe to swim in?
Swimming is not recommended due to the freezing temperatures of the water at high altitude.
