The porters on the Inca Trail, affectionately known as Chaskis, are the unsung heroes of the trek. These dedicated individuals carry the heavy loads of supplies, gear, and food to ensure that trekkers have everything they need to complete their journey. The term Chaski originates from the Inca Empire, where they were the ancient runners and messengers who traveled across vast distances to deliver important messages.
We strongly believe in looking after all our staff
In particular the Chaskis Quechuas (OUR INCA TRAIL PORTERS) who we consider to be the unsung heroes of the Inka trail. By dealing directly with us and not through agencies, we can pay our staff fair wages, thereby stopping the exploitation which unfortunately was a reality for many of the local people. The porters, who have been treated despicably by some agencies in the past, deserve better. Be assured that we value and cherish our local people and resources. We take pride in looking after our team and pay well above average wages. A large percentage of our profits go towards funding local community-based projects either organized directly by ourselves.
We pride ourselves on treating our porters with the respect and dignity they deserve. We know they are a fundamental part of the Inca Trail experience, and that’s why we ensure they receive fair treatment, competitive wages, and adequate working conditions.
Our commitment to our porters’ well-being goes beyond the basics: we provide quality equipment, nutritious food, and a safe work environment. We also encourage ongoing training so they can perform their duties efficiently and safely, contributing to the sustainable development of local communities.
Pays sales taxes on 100% which is known as IGV.18% is paid of your trip price to the tax office. we are tour operators (small and private groups specialists). We pay high taxes because most of our clients are direct sales by the internet.
