We’ll pick you up from your hotel at 6:30 am and take you to the bus station for your journey (Inca Express or First Class). Both services offer top-notch amenities, including an English-speaking tour guide and a waiter to provide you with a selection of hot and cold beverages.
Along the way, you’ll visit several Inca ruins, museums, and the Andahuaylillas Church, often referred to as the Sistine Chapel of South America due to its stunning frescoes. Next, we’ll explore the Racchi Inca ruins, a historical site once used for religious ceremonies and rest stops for Inca travelers.
We’ll then stop at La Raya, the dividing line between Cusco and Puno, where you can see traditional Peruvian animals like llamas and alpacas. In Pucara, we’ll visit a museum showcasing pre-Inca artifacts. We should arrive in Puno by 5:30 pm, where our representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.
After breakfast at your hotel, your tour leader will transport you to the Puno port. You’ll board a boat for a 30-minute ride to the floating Uros Islands, where you’ll be greeted by the locals and shown their unique crafts. Following this, you’ll embark on a 3-hour boat journey to Amantani Island.
Arriving around 2:30 pm, you’ll meet local families who will host you in their homes. After lunch, you’ll hike for an hour to Pachataita Mountain (Mother Father), where you can enjoy stunning sunset views over the lake and breathe in the fresh air. Later, you’ll return to your host family for dinner. In the evening, you’ll have the chance to dress in traditional attire provided by the locals and attend a celebration at the local school.
You’ll start your day with an early breakfast with a local family and then explore more of the island. After lunch, you’ll embark on a two-hour boat ride to Taquile Island. The locals there maintain their ancestral traditions and wear vibrant traditional clothing.
They are renowned for their stunning handwoven textiles, which are traditionally crafted by men. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about traditional farming methods and try using some Inca tools. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, where you can sample regional dishes, before taking the boat back to Puno and concluding your tour at your hotel.
Enjoy your final moments in Puno after breakfast at the hotel. Later in the morning or afternoon, we’ll arrange transportation to Juliaca Airport for your flight back to Lima. (Fee: $60 per group)
