day-by-day Argentina Country Tours Iguazu Falls itinerary
Day 1: Buenos Aires. Upon arrival in Buenos Aires we transfer you to a centrally-located hotel.
Day 2: Buenos Aires. Today we take a tour of Buenos Aires, to serve as an introduction to the city's features, history, architecture, culture, inhabitants, anecdotes, and secrets. The tour explores the busy centre, including the Plaza de Mayo, where the Casa Rosada Presidential Palace is located; the aristocratic North, including Recoleta Cemetery, best-known for holding Eva Peron’s grave; and the working-class South, such as the famous La Boca and San Telmo districts, heartland of the Tango. Return to the hotel for overnight.
Day 3: Buenos Aires. A chance to explore the wonderful city of Buenos Aires. Or you may wish to go further afield, and visit the Uruguayan town of Colonia, a ferry ride away across the River Plate.
Day 4: Buenos Aires - Iguazu. Transfer to the domestic airport for your flight to Puerto Iguazu. Upon arrival, we cross the bridge over the Iguazu River and into Brazil to visit the Brazilian side of the Falls. We return to Argentina to our hotel and overnight.
Day 5: Iguazu. We spend the day on a tour of the Argentinean side of the Falls. Here you can ride the Rainforest Ecological Train, then wander the many walkways that get you right up close to the deafening roar of the awe-inspiring Garganta del Diablo – Devil’s Throat! We return to the hotel where we spend the night.
Day 6: Iguazu - Calafate. We transfer you to the airport for your flight to Calafate via Buenos Aires. Upon arrival in Calafate, we will transfer you to your hotel.
Day 7: Calafate. After breakfast, the bus heads to Perito Moreno where, after a short walk, we obtain our first glimpse of the glacier. Standing at over 100m high, it is one of the few glaciers in the world still advancing, and we will have a chance to watch it ‘calving’. After this exhilarating experience, we return to El Calafate, where we spend the night.
Day 8: Calafate. Today, you have a free day to enjoy the sights and activities of Calafate. A popular option is a catamaran trip on Lago Argentino, to enjoy further spectacular glacial scenery. First we have a magnificent view of the ice wall of Upsala Glacier. Then, we disembark the boat in Onelli Bay, for a stroll through the forest to where Onelli, Bolados and Agassiz Glaciers converge. After lunch, we will see Spagazzini and Seco Glacier. Overnight in Calafate.
Day 9: Calafate to Bariloche. At the appropriate time, we transfer you to Calafate airport for the flight to Bariloche Upon arrival in Bariloche, we transfer you to your hotel.
Day 10: Bariloche. Today we make a half-day excursion by road alongside Lake Nahuel Huapi for an overview of Bariloche town and the picturesque surroundings. Our 60km round trip includes Melipal, Playa Bonita, Lake Moreno, the Llao Llao district, Puerto Pañuelo and Lopez Bay. Overnight at the hotel in Bariloche.
Day 11: Bariloche. This half day tour sees us drive to Puerto Pañuelo to board a catamaran that crosses the majestic Lake Nahuel Huapi to Quetrihue Peninsula: here we wander among distinctive forests of Arrayanes trees. We return to the boat to sail to Victoria Island, where there is more time to enjoy the local flora and fauna, before returning to Bariloche. Overnight at the hotel in Bariloche.
Day 12: End of tour. Transfer to BRC airport for return flight to Buenos Aires (not included in the price of the tour).
